Jessica Akers is a Massachusetts-born-and-bred poet/storyteller/artist who’s called Cambridge home for over a decade. A true creative in every sense of the word, she is seldom found without a notebook, a set of knitting needles, or a pencil and paintbrush in her possession, ready to capture her unique perspective on the world.

Jess’s devotion to Boston and its people is evident in her commitment to building up some of its most vulnerable communities. With thousands of volunteer hours logged, she is passionately committed to working with organizations such as The Prison Book Program and The Greater Boston Food Pantry.

As a medical device engineer by day, Jess uses her uniquely creative talents to design fabric-based medical implants for some of the world's largest medical device companies. By night, at least on Sundays, you’ll often find her scorekeeping or hosting the Lizard Lounge Poetry Slam.
